Native Species - Summer Session I

We just wrapped up our first summer session, based on Native species. During the week, we looked at a variety of wildlife, plants, and birds that are native to the Willamette Valley and more specifically Portland. The students created art inspired by them and the shapes and textures of plants and leaves we collected on nature walks .
 
 We experimented with a variety of techniques and materials to create the paintings, handmade paper collages, and prints . On Thursday we had a presentation by Lisa Wilkes is from the nonprofit "Let's talk about Trees" , who is always very engaging and informative .They were a very enthusiastic group.
