Impressions of Fall

The colors of Fall were exceptionally beautiful this year with the dazzling

palette of crimson, yellows and oranges .

We had to look no further than

outside the classroom for inspiration.

We expanded our horizons and also took a look at Fall paintings created by the Masters, Monet, Van Gogh, Gauguin, and Wolf Kahn.

The students created mixed media paintings using watercolor crayons and watercolor pencils for their Fall landscapes.

For our second project, we studied leaf shapes. They were used to create a piece based on the theme "Impressions of Fall". The results were a lovely visual Haiku.

I was particularly impressed with the pieces this week given that over half of the class is new this year, and in K or 1st grade. They were so great at following the step by step process for the paintings, and very thoughtful in the design of their collages.
